Animals are not things – a truly touching post by Pretty Fluffy

I read a post today that really touched my heart. This post by Pretty Fluffy is a beautiful piece to remind people that animals are not things, they are a living breathing creature. A LIFE, put here on this earth to LIVE. Too many people these days see dogs as a possession, a fashion statement, an accessory, or even a way to make money. How wrong this is, it is disgusting. A few months ago I spent some time with some shelter pups from Doggie Rescue. I spoke to the lady who was there at the time and was absolutely disgusted when she told me that a lot of dogs are abandoned when people come to Australia to study and then leave them here when they decide to go back overseas after a few years. How could anyone do that? A dog is not like the couch you bought from IKEA; you don’t just leave it here or sell it to someone else because you’re moving places. I could never ever leave Rufio. I see Rufio as my son, he has brought me so much joy, he is a part of my heart and a part of my life that I could not just throw away. I love coming home and seeing how happy he is to see me. I love watching him sleep. I love the way I wake up to him cuddling me. I love the way nothing bothers him and that he is never sad. Animals are amazing creatures. They know nothing of evil. They love you unconditionally. They don’t care what you look like, they don’t care what you do for work, they just love you.

Bringing a dog into your life is bringing in a new member of your family, not just another possession that you will eventually throw away because your priorities change or cause they get “too hard to deal with”. They are a LIFE and deserve the best just like you and me. I found this on A Place to Love Dogs and I think that everyone should read this before they decide to bring a pup into their life.

I would like to sincerely thank Serena from Pretty Fluffy for posting “Animals are not things” today. I am so glad that there are people who feel the same way as I do. I hear too many horrible stories these days which make me incredibly angry and sad about the cruel nature of some of the human race. Serena’s post helped remind me that there are still good people out there who do understand the special bond we share between animals and our dogs.
